Hi, has anyone done thier Reports and Returns skills test yet? We have ours next week and don't feel very prepared. All we have been given is one simulation paper called Amir Pindi, company Homer Limited to revise from. Does anyone happen to know if this simulation paper is similar to the skills test and the main topics of which it covers? If anyone can help will be most grateful<BR>Thanks

    Hi there<BR><BR>if the simulation paper u r talking about is the same as the 1 in the assessment kit, then i think it will be different.<BR><BR>for me, it was easier.<BR><BR>i will give some hints, and i hope it will be helpful.<BR><BR>VAT return form is essential of course.<BR>u need to be prepared for rebasement of Index.<BR><BR>i will provide more information whenever i get the chance and when i remember<BR><BR>Good luck<BR><BR>

    Hi,<BR><BR>I have recently done my Reports and Returns simulation. I think we did the Homer practise paper in class and it is not too different. I got the VAT return wrong but all we had to do was submit another one completed correctly and it was fine.<BR><BR>The assessment was not too bad to complete within the time limit but looking at the range statment it doesn't cover much at all so we all had to do a lot of additional questions to cover it.<BR><BR>Like Nidhal said, revise the basics like indices, some of it is just repetative calculations like that.<BR><BR>Good luck!

    Reports and Returns Skills Test

    Hi,<BR>I am not overly confident with this skills test but I still have a little more time to prepare as we are taking it 15/03/05. We have had a big tutor shift about and found out we had missed out on alot of lectures. To cut a long story short we have had 2 lectures and we have 3 more then we take the test. Any help or information on what I should be concerntrating on as the amount of info is so vast. Thanks in anticipation of any incoming info!;-)

    hi there,<BR><BR>i did the skills test yesterday. it wasn't that hard. all i studied was the sample simulation in the assessment kit. it was very similar to it. you have to know vat pretty well and consolidations<BR>

    I am hoping that the simulation paper in the assesment kit is similar, as the simulation looks quite simple. With reference to the VAT part on the simulation I didn't find this too bad as it was just taking the figures from the day books and then filling in the form remembering to add the VAT from the bad debt onto your purchases tax in box four.<BR><BR>I have heard from someone that I work with that on the test last year they put in a red hearing which was not applicable to the actual return but most people added this to thier calculations in completing the return. Hopefully they won't do anything like that this year!!!!!.<BR><BR>Also the other thing I am worried about is the memo, in the simulation from the assesment kit we had to write a memo on the VAT implications about importing goods from the far east which I couln't do without looking at my notes. Any hints and tips on the VAT memo would be great.<BR><BR>Good luck to everyone with this, hope you all do really well :-)

    If you have done the "Homer" example a few times you will have no problems as it is very similar. And remember your indexing formula.<BR><BR>Good Luck

    Hi Angelic I really wouldnt worry about the reports and returns paper it really isnt that tricky. I am studying at Barnet and i didnt even find it hard. ha ha<BR><BR>Later.

    I had mine today and i dont think i did very well in it. Probably due to the fact that we never even looked at any practise papers so i wasnt really sure what to expect question wise. I did manage the indexing no problem and couldnt remember which fisures go in what box on the VAt return.
