Unit 23 Evidence????

Hi there....new here so here goes.... Ive just started my portfolio (yep the one I should have started 5 months ago!)... Anyway can anyone help to explain the difference between the evidence for Performance Criteria; the Range Statement and Knowledge and Understanding. What exactly is the difference? Is Performance Criteria more about actual proof like emails of situations that have taken place at work??? If so then how do you collect evidence for the Range Statement and Knowledge and Understanding?? Any help would be appreciated.... Thanx, Natasha

Unit 23 Evidence????

I'm currently doing my foundation also and trying to distinguish between PC, RS and K&U is quite a head ache for me. To get you going anyway, evidence for Performance Criteria can come of the form of actual proof as you said ie emails, print outs from work, or you can use a witness/observation testimony signed by someone who has seen you undertake the action. When it comes to range statements you can usually cross reference evidence from your performance criteria, write short statements on each criteria and use witness testimonies. For Knowledge and Understanding I answer the questions as they are listed this is to show you actually understand the criteria for this unit. I will be starting Unit 23 properly next week in the meantime I have been gathering evidence like diary and task lists from Outlook at work and a print out of my appraisal. I hope this helps Natasha. Unit 23 Evidence????

Hi Great tips Diana on completing the portfolio and if it makes you feel any better Diana its the beginning of March now and Ive not started my portfolio at all! Am I being a real dummy though - heard others mentioning evidence for unit 23 but what about units 1 to 4? Should they be easy? By the way I am studying at home and not had much tutor back up at all. My first tutor left position in December and the new one hasnt taken over yet!. So any advice on portfolio completing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Unit 23 Evidence????

Hi Shazza22 Well I'm kind of worried a little bit because even though I have just started my Unit 23 I haven't really done much with it and I think I have to hand it in by end of May or something. I go to college 2 nights a week (3 hours each night). I don't think I could cope doing this course from home. As for Units 1 to 4, well so far I have had Unit 22, 21 signed off. Did my simulation for Unit 1 back in December and Unit 2 last week passed both. Now that Unit 1 and 2 is done I can get them signed off. All the evidence needed for those two units comes from the Simulation done under exam conditions. The only extra bits I needed was a few exercises I did using Sage to show you have done some computerised accounts. I am now starting on Unit 3 and Unit 4 aswell as Unit 23 (wow thats alot now I'm typing it out!!!). Before you know it, it will be June for the big EXAM. So in answer to your question, once you have done the simulations for Units 1 and 2 all evidence is pratically completed and should be straight forward, Unit 21 you should be able to complete in 2 weeks especially if you are working, maybe liaise with your IT support or a line manager who knows about IT in your company. Unit 4 I can't comment on yet just started it today and haven't read through hand outs yet. As for getting your portfolio started you must make sure you have the following in the front:- Title Page Contents CV Job Description Company Info (if working) Staff Structure/Organisation Chart Witness Signature List (the list of people who will be signing off your evidence throughout your course) Then have dividers for each one of the units and as you work through your units always think of ways of cross referencing evidence as this helps and cuts down on you repeating yourself when you can just cross reference. Also don't worry about the portfolio page no. until the end when you got everything done. Hope this helps and I have gone on too much. Unit 23 Evidence????

Thanks Diana this is a great help. Your message has put it all out a bit clearer (clearer than the tutor did). I think I was a bit niaive when I decided to do distance learning about the amount of work involved and how much time it would take. However, I will just stick in and hopefully I'll get there. The forum is helping - just reading about others in the same boat and having somewhere I can ask the odd question - it all helps. Thanks again.

No problem and when you really get stuck in I'm sure you will be fine. I agree the forum does help a lot, just reading other people queries and answers puts it all in perspective.
