I was hoping someone could help.

Picture the senario. Someone buys an item that they wish to put through petty cash. You have to pay VAT on the thing they bought and the company which supplied the item is VAT registered.
The receipt the person has brought in to support their petty cash claim does not have the VAT shown separately on the receipt. It just has one amount.

My question is:
Should you process that claim or ask the person to obtain a recepit form the supplier which shows the net VAT and gross amounts?

Thanks

Petty Cash Vouchers and supporting receipts.
If the receipt has a VAT number on it and the items are known to be Vatable I think you process it.

If it hasn't a VAT number on, do not reclaim VAT.

Annette0 -
