Does anyone know what process I'd have to go through if I wanted to leave my current job with being funded? I enjoy my course but really don't think I'm getting anywhere with my job. I'm suppossed to be an accounts trainee but am really a bookkeeping assistant. I'd ideally like to finish my foundation and then start my intermediate elsewhere? Will I have to payback my employer or am I obliged to stay with them? I'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Francky

With regards to the paying them back or staying with them, usually in this kind of scenario they try to tie you in for a certain period of time so they get there monies worth and if you leave within this period you are liable to pay back anything they have invested in you. This is normally all dealt with in your contract. Did you sign a contract with them and if so did you take a copy?

If there is no contract then there shouldnâ??t be any problems with leaving them and you shouldnâ??t be liable for paying for anything.

Obviously Iâ??m no expert in employment law so it may be worth seeking professional advice before taking the plunge or you could go to your boss and explain how you feel and they may be prepared to do something about it to keep you.

Hope this helps.

Nick
0 -

Hi

My employer paid for my studying and I handed in my notice just over a week ago. I had signed a contract so have had to pay the money back. My deal was I had to pay if I left while doing the course or left within six months of finishing.

I think my new job will be better for me in the future and it is worth paying it all back.

They have just taken the money out of my pay.

Like Nick has said, if you signed a contract then check that. If you didn't then you are free to just go without paying anything I think.

Louise
0 -

My employer is paying for my course and my obligation to finish it is within the "training policy". There is nothing in my employment contract but then I work for a large employer and they have a separate policy for training. I have looked over it and I only have to pay back all fees RELATING to the course if I leave, stop doing it etc.
Easy for me to say but if they want to invest in you in the first place, can't you have a chat with your line manager about how you feel first, they might not know how you feel and immediately retify it, unless you really want to leave.0
