Hello to all,

I am really in need of help, i started with AAT last August and at the same time joined with the BPP to start studing at home. I started on units 1 & 2 and have just completed working through the book. However i am really confused with the whole exams, skilled test thing etc. I was under the impression that i would need to take a exam for these two units in June 2005, until i got the exam forms through and couldnt understand what exam i was entering for? I have spoken to my tutor who has told me that i dont have an exam for these units i just do the skilled tests as and when im ready, then take a exam once i have studied for unit 3? The whole thing is really confusing me and not giving me a lot of incourage to carry on at the moment.

Please could someone help with this at all, to make this seem a little simpler!!!!

    Hi Jane

Basically you study units 1/2/3/4/21/22/23, you then have to complete your portfolio showing that you are compentant in all of these units, you can use college or work based examples. (Units 21/22/23 are computer skills/health & safety/personal effectiveness which you may or may not be exempt from). You then have to do simulations in units 1/2/3/4 which are set by the AAT and are for want of a better word, "mini exams", these are also placed in your portfolio.

Then in June you sit your exam which is unit 3 only, (which basically incorporates the knowledge already learnt in units 1/2).

Don't give up, it sounds more confusing than it acutally is, and personally I find it a great relief that there is only the 1 actual exam to sit.

Take care.

Tracy
Thanks Tracey,

I think im understanding better now, so do you mean that there is just one exam for foundation? If so, that is pretty cool!!! And just to check there isn't a time limit for the simulations is there? You just take these as and when you feel ready?

Cheers for replying, i know i am making myself sound really stupid, but when it comes to actually learning the work im not too bad!!!

Jane, xx

    Hi Jane

Yes, there is just the 1 exam for foundation, but you cannot pass fully until your portfolio has also been signed off as completed, ie all your simulations for each unit have been completed, and you have shown evidence of understanding all the criterias in the portfolio.

Good luck!

Tracy
