I started to study for my Foundation AAt at the end of last year and have now decided to try the exam in June. I am doing distance learning, which I am finding very difficult. I am completely panicking about the June exam and worried that I really don't understand how everything fits together!!! I am in two minds of whether to pull out or not, and needed some words of help and encouragment from people who have been in the same boat as me and suceeded. Just so I know it can be done - Help!

    It can be done!
You can do it - you got this far, asking for help, and thats the hardest bit over and done with!

Have you joined one of the student MSN groups yet? It's really easy to join up and there are useful documents that could help - you can also post daft questions that you dont want the general public to see - like which side are debits and credits again? ;-)

Try signing up for one of them - the AAT Group is due for its next chat night on 15th April and the AAT Foundation group is always available!

http:/groups.msn.com/AATGroup
http:/groups.msn.com/AATFoundation

Good luck - I promise that it will all sink in eventually (before the exam). :-)

Katherine

P.S. Amanda, the foundation group manager is also doing distance learning so she will know exactly how you feel - as will many others in the group!

    Struggling.....

Don't worry there are many of us in this same boat. Me for one. I have REALLY struggled with distance learning, mainly because i don't have enough time to dedicate to my study.
One week i will be really good and then another i wont turn a page. I think the key is to try not to stop, keep going because the more we panic and the more we fret the harder it is to pull your self out of the hole and get back up again.
It's easier said than done but try because once you finally see yourself making progress, the sence of acheivement is priceless.
I've been studying foundation at home for well OVER a year and have finally plucked up the courage to sit the June exam. I know i haven't done enough work, i haven't even done the skills tests but i'm not pulling out now becuase all the backing work (extra units & skills tests) can be completed after the exam.

Email if you want any help or to talk: sarahheward@owenwilliams.co.uk
