Hi everyone

Still stressing about my portfolio. Left it all a bit last minute.

Via the forum and the msn group Ive noticed that fellow students use 'personal statements' to cover parts of the portfolio. Sorry for being thick but what format do these personal statements take? How do they work?

Also if some areas of your portfolio are not covered by evidence can you cover it by writing out the area (especially in Knowledge & Understanding) and explain in your own words what it means? Would this 'cover' it?

Thanks
Sharon

PS At least worrying about my portfolio stops me stressing about the exam!

Portfolio and personal statements
Hi Sharon

With a lot of items in my portfolio I have provided a witness statement which has been signed by a director, I queried personal statements with one of my tutors, who said that it follows the same line as the witness statement, ie you type what you can do to cover an element, possibly provide an example, and then preferably print in onto headed company paper, sign it and place in the portfolio.

You could cover knowledge and undertanding in this way, my college has also done a Q&A sheet for us which we completed during a lesson to cover aspects we hadn't got evidence for, we were also told that 1 piece of evidence is enough for the K&U sections.

Good Luck, I've not really enjoyed doing my portfolio, I'd much sooner spend time learning accounting, I wish we had been told just how long it takes to complete these when we had started the course, then I'm sure I would have started back in September instead of waiting until January to open my paperwork!

Tracy0 -

Thanks for that Tracy.

Im agree with you on the 'portoflio experience' and I sometimes think I am making it more difficult than it needs to be.

The personal statements will help plug a few gaps though!

Cheers
Sharon0 -

if it makes you feel any better...
I was informed the day we broke up college for Easter that I (and my portfolio) have been 'selected' by the AAT assessor - we have had no real guidance on how to complete it, despite having sat three simulations (all of which I passed) I have no idea what parts of the 'ranges' and K/U were not covered by the simulation as I sat them so long ago.
Then, my college phoned me at home tonight saying I must bring my portfolio in to them tomorrow morning latest ready for the Assessor on Monday morning.
It currently has a title page and my CV.
I am a full time student and do not have a job to help with the 'achieving personal effectiveness' section...
NVQ's didn't exist last time I was at school, so this has come as a bit of a shock to say the least! Looking on the bright side - at least it's not too heavy to carry in tomorrow morning!0 -

Woh! That is a stinker.

A bit late in the day to help, but did you not have any reference to your completed simulations in your porfolio. From what I hear the simulations make up the majority of your portoflio for Units 1 to 4.

If you had to hand in your portfolio this morning all I can recommend now is alcohol, crisps and chocolate!

Thanks for sharing.0
