Not hearing anything from job agencies?!

I have been registered with a few agencies for just over a month but they don't seem to be coming up with anything! I'm just finishing technician level and want to start CIMA in september, but my current employer will only let me do ACA as i work in a firm of chartered accountants. So, i need to move into industry and would like an Assistant Accountants job. I have all round experience - preparing accounts up to Trial balance, VAT returns, Payroll, Book-keeping, use of sage line 50, some sales and purchase ledger knowledge and also auditing so i know what controls should be in place. The only experience i do not have is cash flow, budgeting, forecasting etc, apart from what i have done on my AAT course. I live in Warrington and would like something around the area, but having no such luck! <BR><BR>Can anyone help?<BR><BR>Has anyone else been in this situation?

    Hi<BR><BR>Job agencies are notoriously pants. I registered with about 20 before Christmas and each of them without fail did not bother to read my CV properly and would try to put me forward for unsuitable positions which either did not match what I had specified I wanted to do, or were in areas I did not want to travel to.<BR><BR>The only advice I can give you is to keep bugging them. Phone them daily and ask what positions they have and keep stressing the sort of thing you want. Don't feel you have to take anythng unsuitable. <BR><BR>I did eventually find a job through Martin Ward Anderson agency. Not sure if they're in the Warrington area though (I'm from Herts).<BR><BR>Good Luck !!

    I had the same problem except I didn't have any experience - only had the AAT knowledge. The best thing to do would be to contact employers direct. I registered with loads of agencies and they were all a waste of time and I heard nothing. I went onto yell.com and searched for companies by postcode and then visited their website and applied direct. Found a job that way.

    Have you registered with accountancy additions in Manchester City Centre. They are usually very good - I know a couple of people (AAT Technician) that have secured good jobs with them. They usually want people at your level as they are city centre and will always have a wide range of vacancies. Their number is in Accounting Technician (I don't have it to hand I'm afraid)<BR><BR>Let me know how you get on (i.e. if they contact you).<BR><BR>Regards<BR>Steve

    I have an appointment with accountancy additions in warrington on the 27th, so fingers crossed they can find me something.

    I applied to an employment agency and I have compleylt the opposite - they woudn't leave me alone, they rang me almost every day. Maybe you're just looking at the wrong ones. I registered with SF Group and Accountancy Additions.<BR>With your experience they should be able to find you a job with no problems!!
