I've been studying for a while for the foundation exam but have to say I feel completely unready! Like someone else who had posted on here last week I have been doing distance learning and have been real lazy just doing enough to get me through my assignments but obvioulsy not really committing it to memory as I just don't have a clue where to start when I look at past papers. I've yet to do TB's and have to say it really shows that I haven't memorised the basics as I just don't seem to be able to do corrections and get balanced TB!!
Feeling a touch panicky and I know I only have myslef to blame. Wonder how I ever managed to pass assessments really with my knowledge.
I am going to try to focus myself and spend more time reading through whole textbook/make revision note and do chapter tests and hope TB's all work out in the end as without this I don't stand a chance do I.
Really just wondering how others have dealt with this situation as following the boards for the last few months it seems I am not alone in my haphazard studying method.

I know exactly how you feel. I feel really disappointed with myself at being so lazy and thinking "well, there's months to go" and then all of a sudden here we are with a matter of weeks to go. I'm trying to fit every bit of study in that I can, which is proving difficult as I have a very busy lifestyle and lots of (too many!) commitments. But I have promised myself that I can do it and am trying to make the best use of the time I have left!!

I have done a similar thing to you and gone right back to the start, to try and make the basics sink in. I was racing ahead and when trying to do more difficult tasks I was struggling because I hadn't grasped the basics.

You'll have to keep me posted on how you are getting on and let me know if you are struggling with anything, because, chances are, I will be struggling with the same thing!!

Keep me posted, speak to you soon :-) x0 -

Hasn't your tutor started building your portfolio yet!

OK, don't panic - have you completed any simulations? these will tell you what they have covered and any gaps that you will need to complete.

Have you collected any computerised accounting evidence?

Basically you have to be able to guide an assessor to the evidence of each unit as detailed in your student record pack.

This does not necessarily have to happen before your exam in June, but will need to be completed for reporting very soon afterwards in order for you to be signed off to complete your Foundation level.

Hope this helps.

Jo0 -

Thank you for the advice.
My tutor seems to think that the portfolio can wait forever, me and another member of the group are setting about looking and gathering together evidence for our portfolio's at the moment but quite a lot of mine will need help from my tutor as i do not work in an accounts environment at the moment.

Is there a timelimit on handing in a portfolio??
Also any tips on completing my portfolio would be greatly appreciated!!

Cazz0
