Can anyone help ?

I'm currently revising 'published accounts for limited companies' in DFS and am wondering whether in the exam we will be asked to produce the formal notes which support the P&L and balance sheet ?

I'm using Osbourne Books tutorial and whilst it explains the notes in a lot of detail, all the workbook questions relating to the chapter ask for preparation of a P&L and/or balance sheet in FRS3 format but 'notes are not required'.

I'm really confused. Does this mean they won't ask for them in the exam ?? I don't mind learning them if I have to but don't want to waste time learning them that could be put to better use (i.e learning SSAP's and FRS's !!) if it isn't necessary......

Will be grateful if anyone knows.......

Thanks

    Notes to published accounts

They may ask for a note in a question on it's own. In June 2003 (I think) they asked for a statement of total recognised gains and losses so it is possible. You could take a gamble but it's probably not worth the risk.

Annette
