Hi

By pass rates I auume you actually mean the required mark to pass.

With NVQs its hard to set a definitive line between what is a pass and what is a fail. The required grade/percentage to pass actually varies from sitting to sitting and the final grade for a pass isn't sometimes decided until after the exams have been taken - a case of looking at exam scripts, deciding what is competent and deciding what marks are needed to reach such a level of competence. On the whole though, its usually a case of getting more right than wrong.

Neil

I think AAT should change their policy with pass rates as it is ambiguous to us, in most of academic and professional qualifications you will know the pass rate before starting, so why AAT didn't do the same.
Makes sense in a way, if there's a whole section of the syllabus you can't do, you probably shouldn't be let loose in the world of accountancy with a qualification!

We were told 75% in each section.
