hi there,

I am hoping for some help .....

I am set to sit my 2 final exams of NVQ4 in June, PEV and DFS, only there seems to be a small problem!

The exam entry has been lost in transit and now I am being told that it is too late to enter for my exams..

Our tutor asked us all 2 weeks ago if we had sent back our exam entries and if we'd had confirmation... there were a few in the class who hadnt, myself being one of them.

Last week was bank holiday so no college. When i got into college yesterday my tutor immediately pounced on me to say that i wasnt on her exam entry list and to check it out immediately.

I contacted the aat earlier today and told them that i'd sent the form back and that it had been paid by credit card, the person i spoke to (didnt get his name) said to check my credit card statement and if not that i would have to pay a late entry fee.

I checked the credit card and it hadnt been processed.

I then phoned up the aat again to pay immediately, and got told that they werent accepting any more entries for the june exams and that it was too late.

Now i hate to be bloody awkward but the exams are 4 weeks away!!!! Apart from the fact that i couldnt see the justification in the extortionate late entry fee, but to be told that there was no way i could be entered was just ridiculous.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i should do now? i know that i havent spent all year studying for exams that i cant sit!

LATE EXAM ENTRY - HELP NEEDED
Did you not send it recorded delivery? If you have proof of posting they will let you enter, i'm sure.

Scott.0 -

LATE EXAM ENTRY - HELP NEEDED
What a nightmare. I do think it's worth trying the AAT again, ask to speak to a manager/supervisor and see if there's any way they can get you in. Make the point that you were told the first time you could still enter with the late entry fee - sounds like they shouldn't have told you that but they did. Try and give them the exact time you phoned and whether the person was male/female. Forget about the fee, if you have to pay you have to pay the most important thing is trying to get on the list.0 -
LATE EXAM ENTRY - HELP NEEDED
I had a similar problem when I was doing Intermediate. I tried and tried to get the AAT to enter me to no avail. I even got the senior partner in my firm to telephone the examinations board but nothing worked.

In the end I had to take my intemediate exams in the Dec with my tech exams.

Hope you get a better response than I did!0 -
LATE EXAM ENTRY - HELP NEEDED
Thank you for your replies. I have contacted my Tutor to see if there is anything she can do.

I do however feel that contacting student services is like going round in circles, the person i spoke to on both occassions sounded like the same person.

I would just like to be able to speak to someone who can offer me an explanation as to why they will not accept late entries even though the exams arent for another 4 weeks??!! i could understand it if it was in the next few days.

I really think i will be hitting my head up against a brick wall and have completely lost faith in the ability of AAT student services to offer any help or advice whatsoever.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that the service is completely inefficient when there is a problem?
0 -
LATE EXAM ENTRY - HELP NEEDED
I know what you mean!

Last year I took Payroll Level 2 and had an unbelievable problem to be 'allowed' to take the exam as I am a full member they couldn't work out how to book me in for a 'student' exam, I was told that I would need to re-register as a student and pay an extra fee! although they did change their minds on this one.

This year I have been doing Payroll Level 3 and the Taxation modules of Technician, they could cope with me registering for the Taxation but again said that I would need to re-register for Payroll.

After eventually receiving the forms I sent returned them both in the same envelope. I got confirmation for one exam within about 5 days, when I hadn't received confirmation of the second nearly two weeks later (3 days before closing date) I phoned to check what was happening. The reply was that it is normal for there to be a delay in processing two different entrys (2 weeks?) and that there was no way that they could confirm that the second one was even in the system!

If they don't record entries as they are received the picture I have in my mind now is of all of our entry forms, and payments, just being sat in piles untill someone gets round to processing them (two weeks later). Would highlight a lack of controls within their procedures to me!0 -

<< Unfortunately the envelope got posted with the rest of the office mail, not by registered post, or recorded delivery. >>

Not being funny but it does say in big letters on the back of the envelope that you must send it recorded delivery.

Guess you will just have to wait until December.0 -
LATE EXAM ENTRY - HELP NEEDED
Hi brinky

You don't say who you were talking to but there does seem to be some confusion. We are in fact still accepting late entries. They are now subject to a late entry charge, as you mentioned.

Student Services are now all geared up to accept your entry, please contact them on +44 (0)20 7415 7644.

Paul Bowen0
