I have been told numerous times that I do not have to complete my Foundation level to start the Intermediate level.

I am currently studying via distance learning and to be truthful have struggled with committing enough time to completing it. This has resulted in the exam looming in June and me being completely unprepared for it. I have noticed that I am not alone in this and that there are many people in the same situation. So on the advice given to others I am going to jump in and see (worse case scenario re-sit in December).

Now I want to do the Intermediate at college (feel that this will be far better than struggling with distance learning again), which starts in September, if I do not pass the exam, or get all my simulations etc finished by this time can I still enrol?

What are the implications of not completing the Foundation before starting the Intermediate?

Any help and or advice greatly appreciated.

Nick

Oh one other thing, I was supposed to be moving to Sheffield in May but it has been postponed to July, does anyone know if we can change the location of where we will sit the exam? As I chose Leeds which is a bit too far to go for the exam now and I have a center much closer.

Thanks

N.
I cant comment on the if you can skip foundation.

If you are a distance learner and are a external student for exam purposes the closest venue to Sheffield is Leeds. I have wrote many times to AAT to express my views on this as I think its really bad as there is 4 colleges in Sheffield that will be sitting the exams but Im a external student and the closest is BBP and FTC in Leeds city centre which both require parking in NCPs etc and the cost to sit the exams are just getting more and more for me!!!

Amanda0 -

Forgot to put, that I am in Suffolk still, not moved to Sheffield yet, and there are centres closer to me here.0 -
Two things -

1. If you have not completed Foundation you'll have to do those rubbish H&S and Computer units - is it 21, 22, 23? The boring ones!

2. You won't have all the background knowledge

On the other hand, if you have been studying Foundation then the background knowledge won't be a problem.

Your college should accept you straight onto Intermediate, no problem.0 -
Oops, forgot to finish the reply!

Regarding changing centres, knowing what AAT admin are like, you could end up either with two desks at either end of the country, or no desk at all!

I bet they'd try and charge you as well.0 -

Hi Lilibet,

I have done units 21, 22 & 23 so I have all the boring stuff out of the way and I do have some of the background stuff too, will have to speak with the colleges in the area I think.

AAT Probably would try and charge twice. Mind you would still be cheaper than train fair to Leeds.

Thanks

Nick0 -

the simulations are harder than the exam ! if you havent passed those yet then you have definately left it very late.

the exam is easy and pretty straight forward also you wont find any unclear situations eg they dont reclaim discounts from goods returned but give discounts on all sales !!!!

the best think you can do is practice the past papers and get the hang of them as that is a good indication of what they will be like0
