we were given the task of suggesting ways of improving the fixed asset register<BR>1 you could computerise it,if it was originally a manual one<BR>2 you could update it more often<BR>any more suggestions?

It's hard to suggest ways of improving it without seeing what it's like!<BR><BR>However, general pointers I'd say maybe are:<BR><BR>Keep serial code / product codes in each description<BR>e.g. not just "computer" but "Dell Computer xxx xxx" <BR><BR>That's important so you can reconcile at year end.<BR><BR>When adding assets (monthly) always keep supporting evidence with fixed asset register. <BR>e.g. keep supporting invoices <BR><BR>Again helpful in terms of reconciliations and for the auditors!<BR><BR>Another way of keeping the register tidy would be to seperate items, e.g. plant & machinery, fixtures & fittings, computers & IT etc.<BR><BR>0 -

I would suggest some other ideas to update FAR:<BR><BR>* Include the serial number of the asset if applicable.<BR>* Include the important dates, such as date of acquisition and date of disposal.<BR>* Include the cost and depreciation information of each asset.<BR><BR>And this sort of things.<BR><BR><BR>0
