Hi

I'm (trying) to do the June 2002 paper for PEV. I have the answers (thank god) but I don't understand this:

Ques: The average delay in between placing an order and receiving a fault free computer.

Answer: Turnover divided by number of units multiplied by 12.

We're also told that gross sales were 21,000 units, there were 1,000 returns and orders for 26,000 units were received.

Am I being dopey, or should the 26,000 units that were ordered not be in there somewhere?!

Hi you sound how I feel.

You need to take the 26,000 computers which were ordered and deduct the fault free computers which were sold to find the number of orders which were not met. You then divide this by the number of fault free orders which were met and multiply by 12 to find the average delay of each order.

Hope this makes it a little clearer - sometimes it's just a case of seeing it written out wordy.

I think I've managed to really sicken myself with revision now. Not that I know it all, by any stretch of the imagination, but I am making the silliest of mistakes all the time now. Decided to give it a break for a while, and the first thing I did was check my e-mail and the forums - strange sort of a break!
