This is my 3rd attempt at PEV (I am embarassed to admitt) Each time I pass the first section but always fail the 2nd.

I do not have a problem with calculations at all, I have more of a mathematical based mind than a litarary one (hence bad spelling).

I desparately need tips for the theory and written bits i.e memo's and reports. Most of the time I know what I want to say but I just can't seem to express it or use the correct terms and end up going around the house in my explanation, which I'm sure is related to my faillings.

I would be most greatful if some one could give me a few hints and tips.

Cheers Truffle.

The only tip I can give you is to try not to write an essay. Sometimes the best approach is to bullet point the issues you want to note. I think examiners would probably prefer this method as it is easier for them to mark. It is content rather than waffle that they are looking for so don't worry if all you write is about 4 lines. Also, present written answers in the way you would expect a memo/e-mail/report to look.

GOOD LUCK. I'm sure you'll pass with flying colours this time.0 -

Just my tuppence worth.

It could be that the AAT's penchant for putting all the simple calculations first, means there is not much time or energy left for giving more consideration to the Section 2 Task 2 - type questions.

Why not go straight to this section first and jot down very brief notes and a summary (headers?) of how you could tackle it - the question should spell out what the problem is (e.g., forecasting, quality etc).

By the time you have whizzed through the rest of the paper and you know what the ratios are in Task 1 of section 2, you can devote your whole attention to your initial task and develop it , using your earlier notes as a prompt. By then, you should have a good idea of the full issues. You could finish by reiterating the issues in the question and summarising your recommendations/ conclusions.

Lots of bullet points and lots of 'white space' (or proper paragraphs).

Good luck, I am sure it'll be third time lucky!

0 -

Will definately give it a go!!!

It just gets so frustraiting when it's always the same problem that lets you down. As is doing the same test papers and revision year in year out.

fingers crossed, and good luck to you all

Truffle0
