Hi

I know this isn't a question that is likely to be posted on here. But I have missed a lot of lessons due to illness and I really don't feel ready for the exams this week. I am supposed to be sitting PEV, DFS and PCR. I have had some study leave from work over the last few days but I still am not confident. Nothing is sinking in to my brain at all.

Does anybody know what happens if you are registered for an exam but you don't actually sit it. Do you have to write to AAT and explain why you didn't sit them?

I would rather sit them in December because I know I will have more time to catch up and revise.

I have tried my best to revise but I have missed a lot of DFS sessions and I don't feel confident at all.

Thanks
Emma

I do not know what the situation is with regard to the AAT and not sitting your exams but I cannot see that there is much they can do. However as you have paid for them and have got the time off work i would personally sit them but treat them as a practice paper under exam conditions to show you what you need to concentrate on for December. This way you are not wasting the time you have spent on revising and you never know if you don't worry about it at all you may pass one or more of them and reduce your work load for December.

At the end of the day they are already paid for and you have nothing to lose!

Try not to panic too much xx0 -

If you register to sit an exam but don't sit it you don't have to write to AAT to inform them - you are simply marked as absent but you will lose the fee for entering.

Nobody feels totally confident doing exams but why don't you sit the exams and if you are unfortunate enough to be unsuccessful, at least you've got an idea as to how the paper is examined - you've paid for it you might as well gauge some advantage of sititng it. You never know, you might just do enough to pass. When I did the AAT I did this once and god knows how, but I passed the exam.

Best of luck anyway whatever you decide.

0 -

I know what you are saying makes sense but I haven't been to college since the beginning of May. I haven't even looked at my books until this week. I've had to put my health before college.

I just don't want to go into the exams and open the paper and not know what to do. The last two years have been fine because I was prepared but I'm really not prepared this time. I have only revised for tomorrow's exam so far. I've not even looked at DFS and PCR. I would sooner sit them in December.

I was just worried that I would get a black mark against my name with AAT for being absent in the exams.

Sorry, I'm just stressing.

0 -

I agree. Your health must come before studying without a doubt.

If you feel ok about the one tomorrow then do that - it's still one off the list isn't it? If you feel completely out of your depth with the other ones then it's only six months to the next sitting. Why don't you have a look at the papers when the AAT upload them onto the website.

At the end of the day, the way to look at it is you can do them again in December - nothing is going to go against you just because you didn't sit the exam and I don't think I will be on my own when I say that nobody should put studying before their health.

Best of luck for tomorrow's exam.

Steve.0
