Thinking about it........(PEV)

Hi
Having time to digest and anaylise yesterday's PEV awful exam, I would just like to say that I felt exactly the same after the exam as the marjority of students on this forum.
However, I was not surprised that AAT threw some ambigous questions in and in a way was expecting it (but desperatley crossing fingers & toes that it was going to be a straight forward paper).
I remember the forums from December and how everyone panicked after the PEV & PCR paper's (remember the formula question and the revised P & L question?).
It would be interesting to find out how many students felt exactly the same way as we do now after those exams but found out in february that they had passed? (Desperatly trying to be optimistic :-)).

Also please do not panic about PCR on Thursday (I'm sitting this one too), just be prepared (as much as you can) for any ambigous questioning and accept that this is how AAT set their papers.

My logic is that PCR can not be any worse on Thursday and am hoping that now ABC has been tested in PEV, it will not be in PCR.
Mind you- all logic went out the window yesterday :-)
Very best of luck, there are a lot of people in the same boat.

Sharon

THE ONLY THING IS AT LEAST WE ATTEMPTED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION, I BET THERE WERE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO JUST WALKED OUT NOT DOING IT!! I HAVE DONE THE 2.2 AND WORKED IT OUT ON A PER UNIT BASIS SO THE EXTRA £12 EXTRA IS COMPENSATED BY THE ABC OF £78. I DONT KNOW IF ANYONE HAS GOT THE SAME BUT I DID AT FIRST WORK IT OUT AS A CONTRIBUTION WHICH IS THE £220 MINUS THE £180 AND THAT LEAVES £40, BUT I CROSSED ALL OF THAT OUT.

WELL ALL WE CAN DO IS WAIT!!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE0 -

I did exactly the same thing Yvonne. Worked out the contribution and then crossed it all out. I then worked out that they would have saved more by the overhead saving. I woke up this morning realising that they probably wanted the contribution and then the contribution ratio and gross profit ratio and a decision based on both of those. Well at least I kind of did half of that. Fingers crossed.
I probably wouldv'e got there in the paper if only I'd had enough time!
Doing DFS tomorrow and the PCR. They'd better be better than PEV. Gotta be!0 -

Seems we have all been dealt the worst hand yesterday, No matter how much anyone could have prepared themselves, it did not prepare enough for the depth of the PEV exam- A mixture of some past papers and new stuff.
I am a bit of a perfectionist and answered all the questions, Arm went numb after all the memo writing! but still feel I didnt do enough.
Here's hoping the AAT will bear this in mind when marking the papers and lower the pass rate.
Alteast in DFS tomorrow we have a proforma answer booklet instead of a blank one!
Roll on this weekend when I can get back to normality, stop being a study hermit and enjoy the rest of the summer!
God luck all, think we may need it the rest of the week.

Elaine0 -

You are not wrong about the excessive writing - I've got a blister on my thumb now! Will have to strap it up for PCR.
Evil PEV! Wish I'd never heard of it and wish I'd just quit while I was ahead once I'd passed Intermediate.0 -

I completely agree with you Shaxxa- PEV was nasty, but we're all in the same boat and I'm sure AAT have heard it all before. And the fact that everyone seems upset and panicked about the same thing almost dilutes the worry.

Fingers crossed PCR is a lot nicer to us.0
