I just realised for the 2% settlement discount, i took away 2% from the gross figure, i should have taken it away from the net figure shouldnt i?0 -

Hi<BR><BR>Think exam went ok.<BR><BR>On the settlement discount question I worked out the discount on the net figure but deducted it from the total. I am suddenley having a brain freeze thinking this may not be correct now. You seem to know what your doing, does this sound right to you.<BR><BR>Also the question where we had to alphanumerical code the new creditor (WB50), did it want us to state a main ledger account or a subsidiary ledger account for where it would appear in the ledgers?<BR><BR>I seem to be more panicked now that I've sat the exam thinking about the questions I could have answered differently/better.<BR><BR>Is this normal. Hi Chris<BR><BR>My minds going now, but I deducted ΓβΓΒ£3.60 from the total. When you work out the 2% on the vat deduction, it should come up with the amount you need to deduct for settlement, and in my case this was the amount.<BR><BR>Tracy0 -

Hi Jacy<BR><BR>I woke up this morning after analysing the exam in my sleep!! Your discount is correct, and I think it wanted the account in the main ledger (I hope so anyway!)<BR><BR>Must admit I feel the same as you, I finished the exam in an hour, I've had a lot of vertigo attacks recently and after completing the paper and checking it through, I just wanted to get out of the exam hall, now like you I'm thinking why didn't I answer some of the questions slightly differently, and I know for sure of one stupid mistake I made by not reading the question properly (which I must admit was down to having a slight panic and wanting to get out the room!). I've beat myself up all night thinking you had 2 hours and 15 minutes left why didn't you stay longer??!! But truth is I couldn't wait to get out!<BR><BR>Still on the whole I'm quietly confident, just need to remember to read the questions thoroughly next time, and try not to panic so much!<BR><BR>Tracy0 -

Cant remember the exact figures now, but I think you have done that right - you work out the 2% discount on the net figure, deduct it from the net figure and then add that figure to the vat that has already been calculated on the discounted figure. Have I made that too complicated?<BR>I too am starting to think about what I put and whether I could have done it differently. Ii think a lot of people were stumped by the opening two accounts thing in the main ledger - I put Rent received account and Rent received control account.<BR>What did you put?0 -

Yesterday after the exam I felt on top of the world, today creeping doubt keeps coming in, even though underneath this doubt I felt the paper was ok, it all balanced in the first section, the bank rec was fine, the question about the PL control account not agreeing with the subsidiary ledgers was fine, but everytime I think of the other questions, I think oh my god, what did I put, did I rush it???? <BR><BR>Still, this may sound as if I am mad, I feel confident I passed, but my brain is going to nag away at me that I've written stupid answers for section 2, and I suppose I won't get this out of my head until August. Hi Tracy,<BR><BR>I know where you are coming from with the panic attacks - I started to get nervous a few days before the exam - one of my mates recommended trying some tablets that he'd tried when going to job interviews, the tablets are called Kalms, i tried em and they seemed to chill me out!!
