Did ok except: never been shown gains and losses statement, how to work out cost of investment, or movement of shareholders!! And Balance Sheet didnt balance! Everything else ok. Am off to slap my finance teacher now!!

What did you think?0 -

That was a bit of a relief after mondays PEV! Luckily we did STRGL and movement of Shareholder funds yesterday at college - everything else on there was expected, I thought.0 -

what was the movement in share holders fund, i had closing fund of 34887, am i right?0 -

Cant remember - I took profit after tax, minus the dividend, plus the unrealised gain on revaluation, plus the new share capital issued. The 887 bit rings a bell though!0 -
Lucky you! I couldn't remember the STRGL at all, I thought I had the Movement of Shareholders' Funds right, but I just checked and that was wrong. We hadn't covered consolidation of an associate company at all, so I tried to work it out from what I remembered from the standard, and I couldn't remember whether the standard was FRS7, 8, or 9.

Apart from that, a lovely paper :-)

Ho hum - not going to lose sleep over it now, so I'll just have to wait until the results come out in August!0 -

would you take 25p or 50p to multiply the new share issued for the movement to shareholders fund

Thanks0 -

50p - but i split for 25p share capital, and 25p share premium in my workings, but this wasn't neccessary as the Reconciliation only needed the total.0 -

I have never done a rec for shareholder's movements. Is anyone using Osborne, if so where is it in there?

Thanks0 -

Not a bad paper really, glad my bal. sheet balanced and cashflow was simple,
I didnt have a clue on Gains/Losses and movement of shareholders and had to give up and leave blank, Our tutor never went over either in any detail - although for the length of section 1, I hope I didnt loose too many points.
What accounting standard had a definition of 'associate', I put FRS2 Subsidary undertakings and blagged it! - Anyone else got a more sensible answer?
Otherwise feel ok, roll on tomorrow lunch when PCR will be over too.
Good luck to those sitting it tomorrow!

Elaine - Durham0 -

I went on about FRS2, but not sure if it should have been FRS 9?!0 -

yes it was frs 9 but as long as you knew the definition etc i think it will be ok

how jammy am I, on the train on the way to the exam I realised i didn't know how to calculate the share
of an associate that goes on the balance sheet so had ten minutes to look at it

Did everyone get 4750?0 -

uh oh, no i got 7750, what have i forgotten?0
