UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Still writing as Angela said to stop at 12.45. Only consolation that E and G were still there too!

Got into a real mess with things I really did know cos by then I think I was brain dead; however both Cash Flow and Balance Sheet did balance - so not all bad! Think I will definitely be resitting this one.

How about you.

Sara

    hi sara
look at the time? i am still in exam mode, been awake off and on since half four so decided i may as well get up, sick of closing my eyes every five mins, also have a splitting headache, guess its the nerves settling down.
i looked at the paper and felt like walking out and thought no, just tackle it one at a time, the bal sheet bal first time, did it in pencil and couldnt believe it, that gave me a little more confidence. i KNEW that those statement things would come up cos they hadnt been in the last four yrs papers, but altho i tried to look up in the books and thru our notes i couldnt find any actual practices to try to put figures to, so just hoped i would be ok. so struggled on the strgl, altho had a good go, the s/h funds, well, did all kinds diff workings and then gave up, even went back to it but nope no good. cash flow, fine, goodwill fine, associate, heh, well i remembered frs 9 so put that in but couldnt think of definition, knew it was 20 - 50% but have read book since and realised what should have put! three out of the four ratios were ones i struggled remembering, had looked at in car before and wrote them down as soon as opened paper so hopefully did ok.
left feeling had failed but reading the forum i struggled on the bits others did so perhaps the pass rate will reflect this? i know g was struggling, heard the sighs!! e not sure, text me and had a bad cold which didnt help. the frs 12 provisions thingy, not sure if got my things right on them either.
all those ssaps and frs going round my head, ssap 19 investment properties, ssap 20 foreign currency arrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh want to forget them now!!!

roll on august?????
off to work today with no books to read? have to get a magazine :-))

    Hi Tigercat
Sorry I took a while to reply, (but the red wine has worn off now, so where were we?)
I think the paper went well enough. I made some mistakes, but don't we all. I didn't even SEE the question about allowable what-evers. I checked in my textbook notes & our teacher said they only need two figures and an answer - so hopefully there won't be many marks for that (+ it sounds like a lot of people struggled with it anyway, so I feel better - at least I didn't miss an easy one)
My balance sheet did! (balanced ay £48,887 which seems favourite on the forum) and so did the cash flow statement. I waffled a lot & I think the formulas went ok for the ratios too. I managed to get in that earnings per share are a useful indication to the shareholders, because return on capital employed includes loans, etc. I hope that's right?
I got the goodwill arising at £2000 and amortised £200 to give £1,800 to go to the balance sheet as an intangible asset.
Can't remember any other stuff.
I went back to the balance sheet because it wouldn't balance at first. I got it, with 11 minutes left! I nearly jumped up and screamed YAHOO!!!!!!!!!

Have you got personal tax on Friday? Sounds like you've completely finished?

Keep in touch & good luck with the results in August

Glenn

ps I'm at the seaside too (Scarborough)
