Now that the exams are out of the way, is there anyone going on to do the technician level who's decided on their unit options yet?
I was looking at the AAT fast track to CIPFA and it stipulates the 4 compulsory units, plus the Auditing and Cash Management & Credit control as the 2 optional units - seems strange not to include the tax ones, so assume I've read it right??

Technician choices
I have looked at Technician at my college and they dont offer tax either, apparently the tax units are assessed by 2 exams where as the auditing and credit control are only assessed by simulation meaning alot less stress!!0 -
Technician choices
I have just finished Technician (I hope.... August will confirm..).

I took Audit and CCMC in order to open up the door to do CIPFA. CIMA and ACCA just want AAT (no options specified), CIPFA is Public Finance - e.g. working for a County Council / Government Department (NHS / MOD etc). These areas do not submit tax returns as it'd be one Government department giving money to another (Inland Revenue) so it would time wasting and pretty silly just moving money from one to another. It's taxes (in all forms) that pay for these services and so are collected from people and businesses.

Hope that makes a little more sense0
