Hi all,
I was talking to a good friend last night with my own concerns on the PEV.DFS & PCR exams this week (she passed Technician 3yrs ago and found it hard too, but passed first time).
I want to air my complaint before the results come out as it may be too late then. I have read many of you would like to do the same so searched this website for info: The AAT say that this forum is not the place to ask questions directly to AAT, if anyone wishes to ask a question or generally comment then you can email AAT which is what I have done this morning, I think I clicked on discussion form and it gave me an option at the top of the page to contact AAT, you fill in your name, address, email, memb no and type a message.
So, with any luck they will read my view and comments and may send me a reply.
I just feel that our centre/college tutors are tending to wash quickly over the syllabus, missing out loads then just teaching from past papers. After the exams I now know that we were never taught STRGL, Shareholders stmt, performance related pay and I had never heard of FRS for associates.
So although I have spent 3months going over everything I had from classes, I feel I am now at a disadvantage (through no fault of my own) and will not be competant in these areas of the exams. I also complained about the length of PEV and the hard to understand section2 question.
I hope eveyone who feels the same will send their comments to AAT then maybe it will be looked at differently when being marked.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer with no more damn revision!! :-)

Elaine - Durham

Hi Elaine,

Which text book are you learning from?

I hear what you say about some teachers rushing throught the syllabus. However, our teacher said that it is not enough just to revise from past papers and class notes you also need to at home go back over everything in the text books as the text books should cover everything you need to know. When I started doing my revision I spent a few weeks just reading through all the chapters again making sure I understood all the different topics and could do all the different activities, I then revised the past papers at home and at college.

You said that you spent 3months going over everything you had from classes, and now feel at a disadvantage (through no fault of your own) and that you were never taught STRGL, Shareholders stmt, performance related pay and I have never heard of FRS for associates, well I don't mean to sound horrible and sorry if I do but not even the notes I got from my tutor covered everything in each chapter. In the few hours each week that you have at college you are bound not to cover everything in each chapter becuase some of them have so much information that is why you need to do additional reading at home.

As I mentioned above you need to revise from the text book in your own time at home as well and not just your class notes and past papers that way you will cover everything.

Hope you get the reply from AAT that you want.

Dawn0
