It depends entirely on what sector you work in, i.e. private or public and the public sector being divided into NHS, local government and central government. Financial statements in the private sector are completely different to the public sector and the performance criteria and range statements are completely different as well.

David

So who decides which one you do, or more to the point, which one you want to get into?

If you work for a local council, you do the DFSL. For the NHS, DFSH. In central government, DFSC. For any other non- public sector company, DFS.

David

Definitely worth checking with your centre or college as I was told of a student whose whole class was geared towards the NHS paper notwithstanding that only one student actually worked in the NHS. Not quite sure how this came about but definitely not a situation you want to find yourself in - in view of the marked differences. Our centre only offered DFS although most of the class worked for the local council. If you have any particular preference this may be the deciding factor as to which college/centre you attend rather than them choosing the exam for you.

Thanks.
Was only curious. Dont work in government or NHS (at the moment, but who knows what the future holds)
Would have thought the AAT would have one main central exam/course, and the extra parts could be taken as 'options' as maybe a skills test, for those who wanted to know the extra or rather, different ways of reporting the financial works.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
Shaz
