I have units 1-4 completely finished but have left units 21-23 right to the end and now have huge gaps, am I able to finish the portfolio over the summer and hand it in when college resumes in august/sept or do I have to take the whole unit 21-23 class again!? Thanks

    Hello,

This is the situation that i was told at the college i am studying at: -

"If your portfolio is not completed by the time your exam results are issued then the reults become void.
If your portfolio is completed but you fail the exam you can carry on with the second year and just resit the exam in December"

However, i feel that i must inform you, my tutor wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. So she could be talking rubbish. I'd suggest e-mailing AAT direct and asking them

Your results don't become void if you don't complete the portfolio.

If you don't get it signed off, you won't have passed those units. I guess you could say that you wouldn't have finished foundation. You can cover most of those units with work based evidence so it's really worth biting the bullet and finishing them. I think I am right in saying that you won't get your foundation certificate without them but don't take that as gospel as I think that they have something to do with intermediate too.

Annette

    Hi

Going back to juanbonito's post, I think that tutor was talkin cod poo!

If you dont finish your portfolio, its ok, you just won get your certificate/complete the stage. Portfolio results can be forwarded by your centre to the AAT at anytime and the AAT issue certificates once a month. Once you have completed the exams and the skills tests/portfolio, you'll get your certificate.

Neil

TBH most tutors will tell u lies so that u finish off your portfolio for when it suits them i.e. as soon as possible. but that doesnt mean that u should just sit around and leave them for a while. my advice to leather face is to get it done as quickly and to the best of your ability so that u dont have to worry about not getting your foundation qualification. peace out, word up!
