Hey guys,

I have tried not to think about it too much but the thought has crossed my mind about resits. I honestly believe I have failed DFS and after the costings paper am not so sure about that either!

Now...If I have failed obviously I would resit, but my point being, if I can't pass this time round (when I have been going to college) how can I pass in December with no college? Its the DFS one I am more bothered about as I don't really understand it?

I thought about private tutoring but its sooooo expensive! How have others who have resat managed?

Advice on resits please!
I have never had to do a re-sit yet. Although there is a first time for everything and this time I am sure I have failed at least one. I plan on waiting till I get my results and finding out which one, or ones, I have failed and then going back through the books and my notes page by page until nearer the time. Then I will just do all the past papers again. My problem this time was I didn't pay the book enough attention and that is were all the knowledge based questions could have been answered. I just did paper after paper after paper. Big mistake. Still, we live and learn. Everybody studies differently I suppose. I know though that if I didn't pass first time round by going to college, then I won't the second time either. I felt my college really let me down this year and I will be better on my own.
This probably doesn't help you much though does it. Try and find a good study buddy. I have had one for the past two years and we really pull each other through. She has her strong points and I have mine.
Good luck with the results.0 -
I haven't had to do a re-sit yet, but after that PEV paper, it's quite possible!

I went to college in London on day release from work, which is an intensive way of doing it. If I have to re-sit I plan to go to a local college in the evenings, because the pace is slower and it might suit me better.

So you could try a different college or study method and see you find it easier?

0 -

I did a resit on intermediate and actually found I had more time to dedicate to study.
All I did was to work through the text book again and work on past papers which did get me through the 2nd time probably with flying colours.
My advice is, don't panic and if you do the same as I did, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much you remember from college.
Good luck, you never know you may not have to do a resit.

Sharon0 -

Do BPP do revision courses in your area, or FTC?

That might be an idea as it will be new tutors, you won't need to concentrate on the things you did understand and there is plenty of support.

Good luck0 -

I did a BPP revision course for PEV and PCR and it was over three days and was really helpful as I am a Home Study student and that was my only contact with a real life tutor! I'd really recommend it and I'll defiantely go on one for DFS.
Having said that, I'm not sure I've passed PEV thanks to 'that' question so I'll be in the same boat too I expect!
0 -

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated as always.

I have never had to resit so far either, just worried this year I might have to!

I haven't looked into revision classes as I need to learn DFS before I start to revise it. The costings paper I understand so if I have failed I can do plenty of revision but can't with DFS. I could enrol at college again but they don't teach the whole year between sept and dec so I still wouldn't be ready. Am not so sure what I can do but I suppose I will just have to wait and see! Fingers crossed!0 -

I agree with disco1, and have also never had to resit. DFS was my worst subject and I never fully understood it either. But I think I will be looking through my books rather than doing those old papers too as they were really a complete waste of time and effort!0
