Hello everybody

My tutor has signed me off for the Project and am hoping to get my technician certificate in August if not earlier! I passed all my tech exams up to February 2005 and must admit the project is the hardest thing I have had to do. Passing exams was much easier. And since I have already fulfilled the one year work experience, I am hoping to get full MAAT status once I put my membership application through.

And for everyone of you still studying - GOOD LUCK. Never give up!

BEST WISHES EVERYONE

    Congrats!!

I am also waiting to get my Tech certificate in Aug as I've not long had my project signed off, got the experience and I completed all Centrals last Dec (only had Sim to do June which I passed).

For all those about to embark on Tech level - don't give up, it's worth it in the end!!

Helen

Hi there thanks for that. Good luck to you too.

Is there any chance you could help with my thread regarding the background knowledge questions we have to include in the appendices of the report?

There are 3 questions which I am stuck on and would appreciate any help at all.

Many thanks
Geraldine

Congrats to the both of you, im hoping to start the tech level next year, with a possible re sit of one exam.

How would you advise that i do the exams, do you think it's best to do them over a longer perios of time say 18months as i'll have a resit to do instead of trying to do it in one year?...

Do you know how long your pass results last for if you do it this way? I'm worried that i'll run out of time.
Treacle

I started tech level with both Int exams to do - the AAT messed up my exam entry so I sat them for the first time in the Dec of tech level.

I spread tech level over two years as I wanted to pass first time rather than cram it all in and have a load of resits.

It took longer obviously but I never failed any exams and found it much easier than some fellow students who had to cram loads.

I think there's a time period in which you need to complete AAT - not sure how long it is (ACCA is 10 years) but I wouldn't worry about running out of time but spreading it over 18 months!

I personally would take the 18 month option as there is a lot to do.

I did the two Int papers and the core tech papers in the first year then did the two optionals and the project in the second year.

Good luck!!
Helen

I didn't find tech level too bad. The worst unit I found was DFS. The costing units follow on from Tech so they're ok.

I did personal tax and cash man - cash man is a nice easy unit! (and it's a devolved which is good)

I wasn't too keen on the project though - took me ages to do as you have to do it in your own time and I'm awful at getting the motiviation - it's easy when you're sat in a class studying together (I'd be hopeless at distance learning).

My advice to you is start the project early - I left mine to late and only just got it in!

Some people took bus and personal tax - didn't appeal to me. I think the rules are similar and some people got them a bit confused.

Think about what you're planning to do in the future and where your interests lie when choosing options.

Good luck!
