Hi guys

For all of you thinking of going onto do ACCA at Newport in September there seems to be an open evening on Tuesday 16th August. Falls in quite nicely with the exam results coming out.

All that remains now is to pass. At the moment can't eat, can't sleep and feel sick everytime I think about it. Only 2 weeks to go.
No I don't sorry - I hope to find all that out when I go along. Have you passed Technician? I'm waiting on results of 3. Spoke to Newport and they say I have to pass Technician before they will let me onto Part 2. They will consider letting you in if you only have 1 devolved outstanding. I've done all my devolves and project. Just waiting on PEV, PCR and DFS. If I fail 1 I'll beg, plead and offer my body to the course head.
Well i'm in the same situation, awaiting results for DFS, PTC & PEV - really worried about PEV because that exam went terrible.
I spoke with my boss last week about not wanting to miss out on CIMA this september and being a year behind but she said I can still do CIMA but I have to pass my re-sits before I can do any CIMA papers so instead of splitting the CIMA exams in November and May I'll have to do my re-sit(s) in December and all CIMA exams in May. I sooooo hope my boss is right on this one! I'll be gutted to wait another year just because of one paper.

I'm in a similar situation. Can't stop thinking about PEV either. I have just been on the ACCA website and apparently papers 1.1 an 1.2 can be sat electronically and you get your results instantly. Just looked at the paper for 1.1 and 1.2 and they seem almost simple compared with the PEV paper we sat.

I'm going to make enquiries about if I fail PEV can I sit the ACCA electroncially and get an exemption that way. I will still resit in December to get my full technician qualification but I so don't want to miss out a year of study. I've even dropped a day in work to make sure I cope with the workload. I'll be really peeved off if I've dropped a day and I can't do ACCA.

What college you studying at - at the moment.

I studied at Coleg Gwent - Nash tech. And I have to say I was appalled by the standard of teaching there. Apparently Allt -y- Ryn teaching is just as bad but I'll see how it goes and if its that bad i'll quit college and go to BPP instead. I've been on BPP revision courses and they are excellent but a little expensive. What college are you at?

I'm at Bridgend. I find my costing tutor's way of teaching excellent but I know that some others have had problems with it - financials tutor not bad either - however, the other class had a different tutor and they said that he was absolutely useless. He spent all lesson talking about 'when I was doing this' etc - they actually taught themselves.

The problem I found was that they were so narrow minded in that they only taught what had come up in previous exams that I found myself teaching some of the stuff to myself. If it hadn't have been for me last minute learning about Shareholders Movements and Associates I would not have been able to answer the questions. Didn't even skim the surface on either topics.

However, I don't think anymore studying could have prepared me for PEV section 2.2. If I fail that paper it will be because of that question. Ran out of time and had 5 minutes to put something together. Paper looked like a dogs dinner. What about you?

Well our PEV & Tax teacher would talk about crap (not even aat stuff) for 90% of the time and dribble on the remaining 10%, this may sound like i'm exaggerating but i'm not, alot of students complained about him.

He didn't cover shareholder movements - not even heard of it until the exam, backwards variance wasn't covered atall and ABC I had never heard of in my life so you can imagine what it was like in the exam it may aswell be in chinese! and PEV wasn't one of the BPP revision course I went on - although I so wish I had.

From what I have read on this forum there seems to be a lot of complaining about the tutors and colleges that teach AAT.

One girl in the other class to me really felt let down by financials tutor - I told her to complain but she said what's the point, i've finished now'. Unfortunately if everybody feels the same then nothing will get done and the ones next year will have to endure more crap.

I'm a little bit mouthy in class - only for the reason that I'm paying for this thing (or my employer is anyway) and I'm not prepared to put up with it. Many times I told my tutor to shut up and get on with it or go over that again because you're making no sense. When a subject is tricky everyone looks at me as if to say ' say something'. I think sometimes if it wasn't for me forcing the tutors to do their job I wouldn't have learnt that much.

At times it felt like we were teaching them.

My email is t_a_davies@yahoo.co.uk and on messenger I'm t_a_davies5@hotmail.co.uk. (p.s. I'm a girl - thegog name makes me seem like a boy but I'm not).
