well I passed all mine too.
I was totally over the moon and actually felt pretty emotional when i read the results and it said **successful**
I printed off the email and put it on my bosses desk.
I didn't expect screams or woohoos or anything, but a well done would have been nice. I got nothing at all.
I've did the a day release course at college, but I have still worked well over 40 hours a week in the 4 remaining days plus catching up on saturdays.
Trying to do a stressful demanding full time job and do the husband / father thing as well as studying for and obtaining what is practically equal to an accounting degree is a bit of an achievement you would think.
I didn't find it easy to study at all. but I kept at it.
Anyways I know he saw the email because it had dissappeared from his desk. He even phoned me twice on the internal phone thing to ask me do do stuff and didn't mention it.
Then he went home. Shouted down the corridoor' Bye see you tomorrow' and p1ssed off home.
3 years of my life, and he couldn't spare 2 minutes to say well done.
Totally p1$$ed on my parade.
Ah well. My famillies proud, and that's the main thing.

Well done bristolblokie, we are all proud of you even if your boss isn't. It takes a lot to do what you have and it is a great achievement and don't forget it!!0 -

Hi, congratualtions, well done you! I have just pased my intermediate level and my boss said that my studying was actually detremintal to the company (do it all on my own time and had to take holdidays for my exam!) as I had shown nervousness before the exam. How is that for support and encouragement? I will never forgive him for that comment and it totally deflated me after my exam results came through.

Natascha0 -

I know what you mean!! You are not on your own, I have the same problem with my boss. Not an iota of recognition for my achievement.

But, we have the last laugh!! I have started preparing accounts for small businesses to balance sheet and have an arrangement with a qualified accountant to sign them off!!

Maybe you could do the same thing.

Congrats to all of us who passed and for those who didn't, you know you can do it!!! We had bitches of papers for both the PEV and DFS exams!!!!

Siany0 -

Might be worth thinking that...maybe your boss is resentful coz you're making him look worthless? The harder you try and more determined you are to make a success of things just goes to show that you must be a valuable asset to your employer. On the other hand, what's your boss??? Useless waste of space with no drive, no ambition and no ideas, possibly.0 -

Hear Hear!
Well done Bristolblokie,
I felt exactly the same when I told my boss who did say well done but wasn't meant in a heart felt feeling.
Like someone else mentioned, your boss is probably feeling threatened by your capabilities and is hoping desperatley that you won't show him up!
What an a****hole!

Congratulations
xx0 -

Well done Bristolblokie. You should feel proud. It is amazing that bosses can find knowledge so intimidating. Since I started AAT my boss has made everything a secret and has managed to turn me into an input clerk so that I cannot think for myself. Unfortunately this has been to her detriment and she has blown the budget and now I am being asked to help again.

Now they have paid for your course, it is time to fly the nest - you are worth it.
Best of luck for the future0 -

I thought I was the only one that had a boss that was intimidated/resentful and obviously jealous of my achievements. It didn't help much that the MD would often make comments such as, "I am now more qualified then him" etc etc. I now realise there is a whole army of bosses out there that need a jolly good shake up. They should be supportiing and encouraging the growth in qualification not hiding what they do and being negative in every way, in fear that you might be better at their jobs then themselves. I myself have vowed with my own staff that I will never be this threatened by studying as it only improves my dept and in doing so makes the company much better.
TO ANY BOSSES OUT THERE READING THIS, WAKE UP WE ARE NOT TAKING OVER WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU!!!!!!!

0 -

well I know how you feel about the working full time & trying to fit it all in lark..plus you got a father job to do as well-I found it hard enough & I don't have kids!!!!!!

I just got grief of my boyfriend for being busy & not paying him anough attention!!!!!!

But still, we now are qualified & pround & no matter who does/doesn't give a dam, no one can take away that wonerful glow I have inside today.

this takes me a big step closer of being fully qualified & upping sticks to use my qualification abroad in 5 yers behind-and leave all those miserable buggers behind!

well done you!0 -

Hi

I know exactly how you feel, my workplace is just as bad. Dont listen to them. Rise above it all. When you leave and earn loads more money than them, just think how they will feel.

Well done

0 -

Hi,

Well done. I too passed all 4 of the exams I took and feel quite proud of what I have achieved. I found Level 4 a real hard slog, despite doing various aspects of it in my job. I am a mature student, who did the course part time as well as working full time and running a house with 2 children and you are right that it takes a lot of determination to keep at the studying.

My main boss in on hols, but I had to contact him yeaterday by text and added the good news on the end. He text bacx about 5 hours later and not a mention. He has since spoken to me twice today and never said a word - I think deflated is the feeling.

Who cares, as all my friends and family, plus my other bosses were chuffed to bits. Took out for meal by my husband and a surprise bouquet of flowers sent to work which made me feel on top of the world.

Well done to all those who have got the results they wanted. To those who have a re take or too - good luck in Dec and hopefully the PEV paper will be a stark inprovement on Junes

Karen0
