Ben

I've just completed the technician level successfully so hope my advice to you helps. The optional units varies from college to college however at my college they units are as follows:

Personal Tax
Auditing

Auditing is mainly course work and Tax is an exam. My colleague attended a different college and Cash Management and Auditing were optional. Cash Management is a simulation which is very easy and it takes 4-6 weeks to teach. Personal Tax wasn't too difficult though a lot to remember. Good luck in your choices!

Pol

I did Cash management and auditing, they were both by simulation rather than business and personal tax which are by exam. I found them easy enough. Do you prefer simulations or exams? It also depends on the line of work that you do and what would be most useful to you. If you work in a tax department, then obviously tax would be the obvious choice. You will already know a lot of it or cash management if you work in treasury or credit control.

    Hi

Well done on you double success!

The optional units are Auditing, Cash Management and Credit Control, Business Taxation and Personal Taxation. You have to choose two out of these four options and in addition do the 3 compulsory units plus the project.

I know that some colleges do not offer all optional units but do not be put off by this. I attended in the evening and as a result was not offered Business Taxation. As i wanted to do this, I did it at home and sat the exam in December. Successful on first attempt so can definitely be done!!

I wish you every success with Technician and the units you choose.
