Back in March this year an after school club approached my college to see if anyone would be willing to be the treasurer for a small monthly honorarium, with the intention to take the bookeeping/accounts etc from the accountant.
I volunteered for this post as I thought the experience would be greatly beneficial.
However as time has gone on, the club has been through a great deal of problems ie cashflow and both members of staff have now resigned and I am still not doing the accounts.

As I've yet to actually do any bookeeping for the club and have inherited all the files and paperwork etc (it was then decided that the accountant would complete year end this month but wasn't really discussed with me) I have become increasingly frustrated that I'm not doing the role as agreed.
I have only just in the last month started to comment on the financial positon for the committee meetings which in itself is frustrating as I'm not doing the accounts.
Now the future of the club hangs in the balance both from staffing and financial, I feel reluctant now to become involved (bearing in mind that I'm still not doing the accounts) and am now considering to resign from this post.

My conscience battles with me as I really do not want to let the club down and also I like to regard myself as being proffessional.
I am also expected to do the payroll which I have had no experience other than completing NVQ2. Bearing this in mind I would have to deal with old staff leaving and new staff starting etc.

Any advice and thoughts would be greatly appreciated as this is really troubling me now.

Thanks

Shaxxa

Ps. I have never received any payment as it was agreed that my first payment would be for the 1st set of accounts produced.

Pps. Sorry for all the waffle, I hope you can make some sense out of it :-)
If both members of staff have resigned then who knows you are supposed to be doing the accounts?? And why have you not done any? Is it that they think you are doing them and have never checked or is that they haven't given you them to do.

If its that you just haven't done them then I'd get them started but if its because they haven't given them to you then I'd walk away and not think anything of it.0 -

Thanks for your reply Sadielouise.
They just haven't given me the accounts yet to do but am talking to the trustees tonight who have at least apologised in the handling of the matter.
All is not lost yet ;-)

Shaxxa
0
