I achieved a degree in Accounting and Management Control about 10 years ago and have worked in accounts ever since.
Last year I realised it might be a good idea to get a professional qualification to back up my knowledge so registed with Premier Training to do home study. By virtue of having a degree, I was awarded exemption (by the AAT) from foundation and intermediate and went straight on to technician level.

I hope to have completed (and passed) Technician in December.

What I'm concerned about is how on earth this will affect my CIMA/ACCA exemptions ?? Does it cause a problem that I haven't done foundation/intermediate ?? Will my degree still be relevant ?? (I should mention at this stage that I went straight on to the second year of the degree cos I have a HND in Business and Finance too)

I'd love to hear from anyone who's done things in the same cock-eyed way and who can tell me what ACCA/CIMA awarded them in terms of exemptions.

Thanks in advance for any help :-)

After called ACCA last week I have just photocopied all of my qualifications and sent them in with a covering letter to ask what exemptions I will get.0 -

I did a joint honours course so it is not very straight forward. I have a BA (Hons) in Business Studies & Geography, but did a bit of IT, so maybe exempt from 2.1 too (hopefully).
0 -

Hi

As far as I know CIMA give their exemptiosn based on NVQ4/technician while ACCA base it on NVQ 3/intermediate and NVQ 4/technician.

If you have a relevant degree though, I would imagine that would be sufficient for the exmeption purposes anyway.

Neil0 -

Will it matter that I have 'completed' AAT in the traditional way (i.e I haven't done foundation and intermediate levels) ??0
