Has anyone studied with BPP ? The only reason i ask is that i am about to start doing my ACCA course with BPP which involves day release from work. The course is £260 - £290 for the 6 whole days taught course ( the same price as the course run at most colleges ) spread between September and October but the revision course which is held in November is an additional £290. I just wondered if anyone had done study through BPP to comment on whether it is absolutely necessary to do the revision course aswell as it starts to work out very expensive if it is.However at the same time, if it is important to do the revision courses then of course i will book them. Anyones experiences would be appreciated.

Studying ACCA with BPP
I have done 2 of my papers with BPP and one at a local college.

I did 2.1 and 2.2 with BPP and didn't do the revision course, I had to put in lots of extra work but decided to save my boss a bit of money! I did 2.3 for 2 hours a week at the local uni but the hours worked out almost exactly the same by the time you took into account sickness etc. I got 1% more in tax than law but had done both taxes at AAT so don't think the tuition is any better over the year.

I am now going to take 2.4 and am doing the taught and revision course with BPP. They do this pass assurance which means that if you do the taught, revision courses, submit the mocks on time and get at least 30%, then you get a free revision course if you fail. I thought that may be a good idea for costing!!

I have only good things to say about BPP, they are very professional and the standard of teaching is excellent - you wont' regret it.

Annette0 -

Absolutely agree with Annette having used BPP for Cima. They are expensive but honestly worth it, I would never now use anyone else and always advise others at work to use them. For the extra money you get real quality lecturers with wide business as well as academic experience, who know exactly what you need to do to pass the exams, condensed notes, marked assignments etc. If anyone struggled with anything they would always help you separately either at breaks or by phone/email in between course days. And if you do the pass assurance scheme basically they are saying if you do all these things you should pass. So if you possibly can afford it at least try it for your first paper and see whether you think it's worth it for you. Look at the pass rates - generally BPP get higher rates, and you've only got to fail a paper a few times to spend as much as you would have if you'd passed first time with them. Sorry to be such and advert but for me it was really worth it!0 -

I was advised to take the question based revision courses if you also get the taught course, the other revision is more revision, and not enough exam technique. Question based therefore is possibly more effective for what you need and a bit cheaper!0 -

There was only one type of revision course offered at my centre which is the question based one so I assumed it was the only type, sorry.0
