I got a letter from the AAT today regarding an award ceremony for those that passed the final stage - does anyone know what this involves and what the dress code would be?

AAT award ceremony
I presume that the dress code would be formal and I think from the letter that it would be a case of being called up and presented with an additional certificate with complimentary buffet and drinks. There is a £15 deposit which needs to be sent with you application for a place but this is given back to you upon arrival. If you don't turn up then it is cashed.<BR><BR>I was a bit disappointed with the venues as there are none close to me.<BR><BR>Helen<BR>0 -

I received the same letter, however, I am already going to be attending an Award Ceromony on Friday 9th Sept through the university I did AAT with. The dress code for that is black cap and gown. Don't know if that is of any help.0 -

Im really disappointed in the AAT. I have passed all my exams first time and due to my lecturer taking time to check my project it wasn't submitted in time and I cannot attend the awards ceremony until next year. My project was submitted 2 weeks ago now and the AAT are sending my certificate out this week. Its unfair that some students are having to wait another year to attend the awards ceremony when they quite clearly have passed this year. If I had resits in December I would understand .AAT I think you should think again about this one and extend your deadlines by a few more weeks!0 -

Is that really something to complain about Polly?<BR><BR>I'm in the same situation, passed last year but have only just been invited now. Is it really that much of a problem? A deadline has to be drawn somewhere - you were just unlucky this time.<BR><BR>0 -

Polly, some people don't seem to get invited at all! It seems to be luck of the draw?! I've read previous message on here where people couldn't go and weren't invited.0 -

Well I think the AAT could be more flexible. My colleague is giong to the ceremony and we wanted to go together. Plus as I have officially passed I intend on doing ACCA and wont really want to go next year. Its a shame that because my project wasn't submitted in time by my lecturer that I should be excluded. I have no doubt there are other students who feel the same.0 -

I think the trouble is there has to be a cut off somewhere, because there will always be someone who the day after you says "ah but I should be let in I'm only another day late". It is a shame you can't go with your colleague, get them to apply for membership and then you should both be invited next year, because new members get asked to!0 -

this seems to be your lecturers fault for the late submission not the AAT's fault !!0 -

Hi,<BR>I went last year and got another invite this year.<BR><BR>It was a brill night. Most people there were dressed smartly. I wore a suit. It looked great on the photos. I wanted to look smart anhd professional on my pic and most other people had the same idea.<BR><BR><BR>I thought I would write about this as I was desperate to know all about an awards ceremony before I went.<BR><BR>I went to the awards ceremony in Nottingham on Friday 19th November taking my husband as my guest.<BR>We had a frazzled day getting there from near Heathrow with car problems and traffic delays and arrived at our hotel with only half hour before our taxi was due to collect us (my hair needed washing abnd the hairdryer went bang).<BR>However we managed to be ready on time and arrived at the Albert Hall at 6.30 as we had planned.<BR><BR>What a great evening.<BR><BR>As I had booked and payed for my photographs online we walked straight into the studio for our photographs to be taken. They are fab. We payed £5.00 extra per print to have them both put onto cd rom so this meant that I was able to email them straight to my parents and family when we got home last night (Sunday).<BR><BR>After our photographs we went into the drinks reception where there was a choice of red or white wine, OJ, or sparkling water. While we were enjoying our drinks Jess Bond came over and chatted for a while (a lot of aat council members where there chatting to delegates).<BR><BR>The actual presentation was very well organized with plenty of time allowed for each delegate to have their photographs taken. The ceremony was conducted with humour but at the same time with enough respect that you felt you had achieved something that you had worked hard for.<BR><BR>I felt very comfortable in my trouser suit as most other women were dressed similar with a few wearing jacket and skirts.<BR><BR>After the ceremony was the buffet. Yum Yum. The food was great. There was hot food - pizza, sausage rolls, chicken, jacket wedges with salsa or cheesy toppings and cold - open sandwiches and rolls with at least five different fillings and there was plenty of it.<BR>The head of Education and Training joined us for our buffet. She was very approachable.<BR>There were stands by accoutemps and FTC and an AAT stand with info about membership and cpd. I was lucky enough to bag myself an AAT Pen!!!!! <BR><BR>All in all it was a great evening and even my husband said he had a really good night. The AAT `people` were all very approachable and friendly.<BR><BR>I would like to say thank you very much to the AAT for a great evening,<BR><BR>Regards,<BR><BR>Sarah0
