Whats the point of Health and Safety module ?

Can anyone tell me what the point of the H&S module is ??<BR><BR>I've done accounts for 10 years and don't ever recall sending out a management accounts commentary that included the statement 'your profit is up 10% on last month and BTW you have a loose cable hanging out of the back of your PC'.................

    lol very true.<BR><BR>Is it because its an NVQ and you have to have the standard H&S thrown in for good measure!<BR><BR>I hate having to do it and think its a waste of time.<BR><BR>

    Its a total waste of time - I keep putting it off but want to finish tech level in December so needs must I guess..........<BR><BR>At least the H&S officer where I work is a bit tasty so will have to sweet talk him into helping me out ;-)

    I think it is a requirement of NVQ that Health and Safety is covered.

    Er wots that got to do with health & safety ?? <BR><BR>I'm extremely good at my job - in accountancy. I really don't think it matters in the slightest to my boss that I'm not a whizz kid on health and safety matters. That's what the health and safety manager is employed for.<BR><BR>I really don't think knowing the latest H&S requirements is going to make me get my accounts any more accurate than they already are !!

    <BR>Ah, but think - you may have the edge over another candidate because you know that leaving filing cabinets open could cause an accident. Employers have to think of their insurance premiums after all!<BR><BR>Or maybe not. <BR><BR>At least the unit isn't too big. Imagine if it was a huge unit with an exam at the end. What a double waste of time that would be!

    <BR>I agree, what a waste of time - and all to be forgotten. Emphasised by the fact that training providers skim through it like an examiner on an AAT paper!

    Alot of it is Common sense, so I cant see why people find it so hard to do. I managed to complete the unit in 3 hours, what are you all fussing about.<BR><BR>As the first person states, about the accounts and by the way you have a lose cable, well its not your clients h&s you are looking for, its yours own.<BR><BR>what is the point of being so clever and being able to produce a set of accounts if you cant notice the hazards around you. ie the lose cable, you call fall over the cable and be in a sick bed for a couple of weeks, months then you can say you are good at accounts, you wont be able to work and do them.<BR><BR>I think you will be suprised how many dont know the h&s and how many accidents happen through carelessness!<BR><BR>Amanda

    Whats the point of Health and Safety module ?

    Hi ya Nikki<BR><BR><BR>Can you help me? The leg on my chair is really stiff â?? it making life very difficult for me when I want top zoom from my desk to the printer. Before the leg was stiff I could do the trip in 20 seconds, now itâ??s taking over 35 seconds â?? what should I do?
