Hi all,

I have just come into the accountancy world from something totally different, so I am new to this forum.

I have started evening classes in NVQ 4 (Technician due to exemptions) which I am enjoying. I have some academic knowledge of accounting but no hands on expereince.

I have applied for, and been offered, a job at a local accountants office as a Trainee Technician Accountant. I am in Cornwall, South West.

I have been offered £12.5K with a review after 6 months - considering it includes training do you guys think this is about right??

I am also worried about how tough it is going to be and the consequenses of making mistakes! Is software like Sage easy to use??

Any other advice on preparation would be usefull.

TIA

    First Accounting Job - Panic??

As an manager in business in Cornwall we would start a trainee of this level on £11,750 - so £12.5 K sounds good.

As long as you make sure that they supervise and train you properly you should make too many mistakes and Sage is very user friendly, again with the proper training.

Good luck!
