please note a degree is not a magic wand to wish u will become all mighty and powerful. You do not need a degree to setup your own accountancy shop if anything a chartered qualification eg CIMA, ACCA or ACA are better than a degree in accountancy and finance !!

alternatively you dont even need to know anything about accountancy to set up shop you could simply hire accountants to do the work and watch them all day.

it sounds like you should see a careers advisor !!0 -

Morning

My tutor on Wednesday told us that Technician Level AAT is the same level as a degree - it's just that people see an NVQ as an easy course (BUT we know different!!)0 -

Hi

I know someone who has just completed ACCA and they now have the choice to turn that into a Degree from Oxford so I doubt that when you have completed AAt you can class that as a degree.

Kelly

P.S as far as setting up your own business, people will tend to go for people who have recognisable accountancy qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA etc. Degree courses tend to cover lots of useless information which you are never likely to use in your life! (or so I have been told!)0 -

AAT Tech is equiv. to first year degree.

To work for yourself (accountancy firm) you need to be qualified by AAT or ACCA. AAT members can do most things up to a point. There are a few posts on here about what you can do (you are limited).

To do everything you'd need to be ACCA or ICAEW. To practice yourself you need to have gained 5 years experience before you set up on your own, I think (check the ACCA website).

ACCA is not a degree, as far as I know, but it is equiv. to one.

Helen
0
