My tutor has set me an activity to draw flowchart diagrams for the Payroll system, cash system and stock system. I am really stuck on where to start. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance
When you say a "flowchart" diagram, is that the same as system notes? If so, it's really a case of logging the complete process of say the stock system (for instance) from the moment a purchase order is raised right through to seing the stock being included within the stock system.

0 -

When an audit is carried out, the auditer generally prepares a flow chart to "follow the flow" of information within the business. There are certain symbols auditors use which should be in your text book, which I can't remember.

An example for stock could be:

Purchase order raised - stock ordered - stock delivered with delivery note - delivery note checked against order placed - delivery note then forwarded to account dept & Stock issued to stores - delivery note/purchase order checked (prices) against invoice when received.

I hope this is some help it's by no means brilliant and don't forget it differs between companies. The objective is to test controls within the companies normal operating practice. So it's how the company operates now but shown on a flow chart using symbols instead!

0
