Hi there all!

Just looking for abit of advice really. I currently work as a purchase ledger
clerk for a large company, and basically ive had enough. I have gone through an agency and they have an interview lined up for me, it would be doing bank recs, tax returns and things like that. I would also be on alot more money, but i would have to quite abit of traveling. Just know whether i should bother or not, as it isnt really what i want to do. It would be completly different to what im doing, and the agency said that the job is near enough mine. What does any one else think i should do?
HELP!!!!!

On the one hand it would give you more experience in other areas of finance, but if it's not really what you are looking for then i would say that it's pointless in taking the time to attend. It also sounds as though the travelling would be a bind too....

    HELP!!!!!

I would go to the interview even if it's just for the experience.

I was offered a job by an agency completely different to what I was doing at that time and it didn't appeal to me much. I went for the interview, found it sounded quite interesting and ended up getting the job. I'm glad I went as I've ended up in a job that I enjoy doing (even though I thought I wouldn't at first) and am sure it is what I'll continue to do.

I now work in insolvency and also travel on the odd occasion - mainly London but also client sites and find it adds variety to the job and is also good for meting new people.

There's no harm in attending and if it were me then I'd go.

Helen

    HELP!!!!!

    Many thanks for your advice.

I also have another problem, because it is the dreaded month end this week there is no way my employer would let me have time off, so i could attend the interview, which means pulling a sickie! which i feel really uncomfortable about doing. as the company i work for are really strict on this. The company only have time this week to see me aswell. Im really confused as to what to do!

HELP!!!!!

I don't think that pulling a sickie would be appropriate.
I think you are uncomfortable with such dishonesty as well which is to your credit.

Either make an honest approach and explain why you need to go in work time, or arrange a non-work time for the interview.

You might find your own boss gives you more respect if you tell him or her, and may even know a job coming up in the department.

    HELP!!!!!
Companies understand that you do have a job already - they should be willing to arrange a 6pm / 8am interview. If you have flexi time, that is also a bonus!
