appropriation accounts- ledger or the vertical layout?

Does somebody know why there are two different layouts for the appropriation account? I am revising partnerships at the moment and I have recently come across the two layouts- the vertical and the ledger layout and sofar, I cannot see a reason for a partnership recording the figures using two.
However I have noticed that the ledger account has different entries. Is that all it is?

yeah i had this aswell the only thing that was common was salaries, drawings, other income, share of profit but i guess unless they give you a template in the exam.
they cant fault you if you do it either way as long as its got all the right info and adds up !!??0
