Allocation idiot

Hey

Did I muck my allocation, was it rent for the first bit or depreciation. I thought it was something like depreciation so I did it by NBV and got 18.6666 like someone else - I may have been a spaz though and it could have been rent. What was the other one then? My memory has gone.
Such and easy question to muck up on too.

I should stop analysing really I'm sure I've done enough but it bugs you once you've read something.

It was for depreciation - and you would of been correct to do it from the NBV of assets. Other one was rent (at floor area) and then some allocations.

I try not to think about it too much as I'll just go insane if I analyse too much before the results are back.

    I did the same.

    Rent by Floor Space
Machine Insurance by NBV of fixed assets
    The rest were allocated.

Does anyone know when the paper will be posted as past paper on the website?

    Tori

I think you are getting your questions mixed up...

The 18.666666 i think your referring to is, is the margin of saftey precentage.

As for the Depreciation and rent splits - How anyone remembers the rate in which they are split is behond me - I cant remember (also i use Memory on the calc)

Good luck for the 2 months waiting for the results.

    Hi

I answered your thing about rounding up 18.6666 on the other topic page 3. I said I put all my workings down and didn't round up as it gave the easiest answer I thought - could be wrong. I wish they would tell you to round up or not its really annoying. In fact I might tell my tutor about this as they want feedback on exams.

Im sure a tutor once said to me if you round up as long as your answers add up to the total and your workings are there (or it makes sense) you are fine. The same applies if you don't.

    Re:Allocation idiot

i got 1 year 10.77 months and rouneded it to 1 year 11 months so i was happy with that and i got a positive NPV of something like 316 ish.

the ratios i cant remember exactly what i got but i remmember that it was first two NBV and floor space and the rest were allocated and then

70% in 1 dept and 30% in the other and split the maintainence costs likewise

i got a really horrible number for the contribution per hour question iwas something like 0.002 per hour and 0.008per hour and i got
215 and 27.5 and i think it was worse for those that had scientific calculators because they were getting 2x10^-3 which is the same thing but its in engineers and physics form rather than your standard accountant so that took about an hour of my time to figure out it was the correct figure.

but all in all im feeling quite good about that exam and im now just worried on the FRA because they are so sneaking with the journals accurals and prepayments.
