Is it just me or does anyone else find costing a really difficult topic.
I have me PCR exam tomorrow and to say i feel sick about it, is an understatment. I shake whenever i think about it.
I was confident about the PEV one and was pleasently surprised but with the PCR, its a different story.
Alot of people at my college seem to be fine with PCR and i'm starting to feel like im the only one.
Please say it's not just me that cant get my head around it.

Re:PCR - pretty tough
Fortunately I only had to do one exam this time (DFS). I did the others in June, and passed ok.
Anything specific you're not sure with?0 -
Re:PCR - pretty tough
Yeah, its revising the budget when there is a limited resource.
I dont even know where to start when working it out. I get really confused when it comes to deciding the binding constraint, and then revising the budget.
I know this is going to come up and i know it will be my downfall. Panicing :-(0 -
Re:PCR - pretty tough
Try not to panic too much. From what I remember, its not that difficult to do once you get your head round it.
I'm just rooting through my file now to see if I can see anything to refresh my memory which might help you.
Can anyone else advise in the meantime>?0 -
Re:PCR - pretty tough
Cant seem to see anything, so struggling to jog my memory at the moment.
You can send me an example of a question, I'll do it, then talk you through it if you think it'll help? Ie How to approach it.

Re:PCR - pretty tough
i know how you feel about the PCR.
When you say constraint do you mean the limiting factor?0 -
Re:PCR - pretty tough
You are definately not the only one, I have failed this one 3 times!!!!!!!
Always the same section that gets me, the dreaded MEMO.... If I can do it, you sure as hell can.
Good luck0 -
Re:PCR - pretty tough
I feel exactly the same. Others seem to have grasped it now, but I'm still struggling through past papers. I can't seem to get beyond section 1.1 without having to look through the answers.
what is stepped cost? My tutor went through it briefly but i AM DOING THE jUNE 2005 AT THE MOMENT AND i DON'T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT The stepped cost calculation for the flexi budget!

Re:PCR - pretty tough
Its a bit of a trick i think that question about maintenance cost, all you have to do is work it out in the same way as the others. Take the budgeted cost and divide it by the volume it will give you the answer of £20000 per 10000 yorkers which is the answer you're already given. I think they just want you to show workings though.
when you flex it you should allow £20000 per 10000 or part there of it will give you a favorable variance
I struggle on limiting factors and the memos definately.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow0 -

thank you!
Can anyone tell me what Additive means in terms of seasonal variations?
I'm fine with working all the moving averages out but one of the papers mentioned the word additive and it threw me.... Can't think.... ?0 -
