Anyone else think the exam was great ? No funny bits and virtually a carbon copy of the past paper I did for practise yesterday.

Am all done now (good luck for tomorrow for anyone with an exam still to do) so am off to get very drunk.

:-)

I thought it was ok, apart from 1.4. I wasn't really sure whether the unit cost would include the cost of the faulty units, or whether you worked out the unit costs of just the fault free ones. I decided to include the faulty ones, as that lead on more from the previous task. The email was good, pretty much the same as one I'd done yesterday in a past paper so I'm fairly confident with that.
At least thats exams over with for the next six months!!!!

Think it specified using the fault free production. Thats what I did and it worked out to a nice round number.

glad you liked it. I flexed the production costs to 1200, what a prat! Although I did remove variable costs out in closing stock which I now know shouldn't have been there, so it did correct out my error!

Laura, I sat it with Jackie H. I also did 1200, but did not take out closing stock. Therefore made a loss of £4,800, did you? Why is it you realise your stupidity when you get out of the exam.

Hi Gill, it's because even though you would do it properly in college, your brain convinces you that you're wrong! See you in PTC tomorrow!

Closing stock shouldn't have been taken into account at all in the flexing part of the budget...

The only time you should take into account the closing stock was in your Task 2.2 where you had to mention why there was a difference in the profits... so thing along the lines of the orignal profit was obtained by using absorbtion costing where parts of the fixed costs get carried forwarded in the closing stock to be matched against the revenues when they are sold... marginal costing treat all fixed cost in the period in which they are sold...

Nobody should be worried about what they got, everybody will have got different answers, we arn't machines (yet!).

All the best to you all
