    Re:Technician Level Choices

DFS - Harder version of FRA
PEV & PCR - Harder versions of ECR.

Then optional (2 of the 4):

Cash Management - Pretty easy and you don't have to do a exam.
Audit - Not done this but only really useful if your..well..auditing, no exam again.
Personal Tax - Tax on the individual
Business Tax - Tax on the business

DFS & Business Tax are the two hardest exams. PEV & PCR aren't that difficult and Personal tax is fairly simple when you put it into perspective with Business Tax. I'm told that if you want to go onto CIMA/ACCA your better off doing business tax now so you have a better understanding later on though.

    Re:Technician Level Choices

    Hi

I did cash management and audit as these were more fexible since they weren't examinations. Although I dont work in audit, the audit option was quite useful as it covered aspects of accounting systems and controls.

As for which is better if you go on to CIMA or ACCA or ACA/ICAEW, cash management, audit and tax are in them all so it doesnt really make much difference and the general level of tax in ACCA or CIMA is equivalent or less, so choice could depend on wether you want to cover tax once or twice. As for ACA/ICAEW you can get partial exmptions for audit and/or tax, and so only needing top up papers.
