Can someone please help me with this question?
I understand that Adam owned the house for 218 months and that the months that he was working abroad count as deemed residence.
I think that I must be going wrong on when he lived abroad. I have calculated that he was living in Portugal for 108 months and I have deemed residence as (108 - 36) 72 months. When I add all these months together I get 182 but the answer is saying 174.
Could someone please explain to me when I am going wrong as it is driving me mad
Thanks Mel

Are you counting the last 8 months he lived in the house? Wouldn't he be exempt as he was retired?0 -
Re:PTC June 2004 - Task 2.1
any period of absence of 36 months is deemed as occupational just so long as it is followed by an actual period of residency. The final 3 years (36 months) are also exempt. Dont know why, its just the law...!
so we have 72 months, plus the first period of residency (102). Gives you 174 exempt.
Just done it thats why i remember, dont think i am really brainy or anything...!0
