CIMA exemptions for AAT

Assuming I've passed my final AAT tech exam this month (touch wood), I'm hoping to start CIMA as soon as possible. Can anyone tell me if I will be able to claim AAT exemptions from CIMA and register for the May 2006 exams?
I know that the exam entries close on March 14th, just trying to find out if there's time to get the exemptions registered.

Re:CIMA exemptions for AAT
Hi Rab,
Just a questions that i wanted to pick your brains with.
I'm hoping to go onto CIMA next june, if i pass this level first time. I've been looking into the exemptions also for CIMA and just wondered
whether you were planning to take one of the papers from the business certificate level, in order to actually get the business certificate actual certifcate or are going to just except your exemptions but with out gaining the certifcate... it't just that if you do take the exam for the bus level and fail then your exemptions are invaild.

Hi treacle,
I was planning to go straight to 2 x managerial level exams. Are you saying that if I failed these, then the AAT exemption would no longer apply and I would have to start again at the certificate level?

Hi Rab.
You need to find out when the registration deadline is for CIMA. The deadline for ACCA to sit the June 2006 exams is December 2005. You won't get your results til mid-Feb, which may be too late for the May sitting.
You could ring BPP or FTC - they will give you the relevant dates.

Hi Rab,
I'm not to sure to be honest i haven't thought of it like that actually. I do know for def that if you fail the one Bus level exam to get the certifcate and the exemption then it's invaild, not to sure how it works if you were to go straight onto the managerial level.
I'd get in touch with CIMA, let me know how you got on,

Re:CIMA exemptions for AAT
Hi
In August AAT and CIMA had a special arrangement that meant AAT candidates who requested it would have there result (if they had completed technician stage) forwarded to CIMA (the deadline is usually the end of august/beruary for the next exam sitting and so not allowing long for you to gt your certificate copied off to CIMA). You had to be already registered with CIMA, for which there is a deadline (check the CIMA website)
As for giving up one (or more) of your exemptions and taking the exam (which is computer based at CIMA Certificate Level) to gain the Certificate in Buisness Accounting, I wouldn't recomend it - it will just be another piece of paper for your wall as AAT means just as much if not more. However, should you go down this route and fail the exam/s, you would only have to take these - your other exemptions would remain intact but you wouldnt then be able to 'reclaim' the exemptions you had given up.
