Hi folks, don't know if this will be of any use or interest to you, but here are my thoughts on PEV, having just downloaded the paper:

Task 1.1

Parts (a) and (b) were as usual, just remember that the standard quoted was for 1,000 newspapers rather than one!
Part (c) was a little different, asking for a reconciliation of fixed overheads incurred with those absorbed. However, this is simply a subsection of the "standard" reconciliation statement you have all become used to, so shouldn't have caused major problems.

Task 1.2

A different way of asking a familiar question, i.e. the subdivision of variances. I suspect that many students in the first part will have worked out the percentage increase in the value of the pound rather than the percentage decrease in the value of the dollar...

Task 1.3

Perhaps a little unusual, but a very straightforward use of index numbers.

Task 2.1

Perhaps benchmarking as a term has not been examined recently, but you have all "done it" as you've worked through the past papers! Although a few industry specific PIs were asked for along with some more standard ones, there was nothing tricky about them.

Task 2.2

This sort of task should be familiar by now - having calculated PIs you are presented with an action plan, and you have to show its effect.

Overall, I thought this was a fair paper with no major surprises. Well prepared students shouldn't have found too many problems.

Thank you for the comments, would you be able to give your views with regards to the marks given for each task that would be useful too.

    Thank you

To be fair, the AAT never give out the amount of marks available for each question so I'm guessing that would be fairly hard to do.

After looking at this brief description I'm even more convinced I've done enough to pass (after looking at the paper too), even more so the PCR paper though, the PCR exam I still think I've got a chance of getting 100% on!! I wish they would tell you the % you got in AAT, really is annoying.
