Hi does anybody know if the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy is a good qualification to have. I understand you have to complete all three levels of the AAT first to have exemptions, is this worth doing to excel my career, when i eventually come to finish it?

Re:CIPFA Qualification
HI Katie,
I've been looking at doing the CIPFA AAT Fast track route and was really interested in it. Unfortunitely the LA i work for is practically borke and was unable to fund it. Its worth completeing the AAT course first because the exemptions are good and you will have a good grounding and basic knowledge of all the principles needed.
Public Finance is a good sector to be in at the moment, the salaries seem to be higher in the public sector rather then the private sector (unless your a partner, etc, etc) so I would advise you to definitely consider it.0 -
Re:CIPFA Qualification
The big question is, how transferable is the qualification if you decide at some point to work outside of the public sector?0 -

Following on from waht Lincs has put...
...can you continue with CIPFA (i.e. work experience) outside of public practice should you decide to move part-way through?
