Hi,
just wondering if anyone as completed the whole technician stage in 6months? and how did you find it?

I just spoke to a tutor and he said it will be very hard.

    Hi

I originally wanted to do Technician in 6 months but that was when I'd just been made redundant and didn't think I'd get another job quickly.

I've managed to do the course in a year working full time and doing the whole thing via home study (with a break of about a month over the summer for a holiday). I did all the exam based subjects (the simulations struck me as far too much hassle), did the project in about a week and just have to finish the Health and Safety thing (which I have to do now cos I entered straight onto Technician level due to having a degree).

I'd say trying to do the whole lot in 6 months if you're working full time would be extremely hard. If you're not working then it'll be more managable time wise.

Good luck with your choice. Let us know what you decide :-)

I did the 3 compulsary exams in one sitting having studied for them in 5/6 months. If you are just doing the 3 exams then i reckon you can do it as long as you put the work in!

I work with someone who tried to complete Technician in 6 months. She failed 4 out of the 5 exams she took and looked ill with the stress. She has just retaken the 4 exams and has yet to start her project.

I personally believe it is better to spend a year or 18 months properly learning the modules rather than rushing as she might not have failed any if she had taken a year and she would have been able to concentrate on her project.

    Hi,

I know a copuple of people who have completed Technician in six months sitting the compulsory exams plus the optional ones to go on to do Chartered. All of them passed first time and the most difficult thing wasn't the work load but making sure the project was done on time!!

Im going to do home study with premier training, Do the first two assements by end of february. That will give me 3 months to study for the 3 exams.

Can i hand my project in say 2 weeks after ive sat the exams in june and does that still get classed as passing in june?

It basically depends on your training company/college. The AAT will not view you as qualified until the project has been internally verified and this notified to the AAT and you have passed the June exams - I think results come out in August.

So basically you need to find out how quickly your college will review the project and notify the AAT and then you know how late you can leave it. Be warned though you are likely to get the project back at least once, I had to revise mine two or three times!!

If you want your exam results to come through showing that you have completed the project, it has to be finished and verified well before the exam result date so that the results can be submitted to AAT.

I did 2 tax exams last June and have just taken the last 3 exams in December, I have finished my project so am just waiting on those exam results :?
