FRA & ECR

Hello,
I wondered if other people doing home study (and working full time in a non-accounting role) could tell me how long you took to study each section?
I did Foundation in 6 months, and being a bit of a swot, had to do some study about every other day.
I started Intermediate early January with a view to doing the exams in June. I've just finished reading the Osborne book for FRA - I understood it pretty much but I can see its getting more difficult. But there is no way I'm ready for simulations etc without the help of my books. I'm worried now that if I take another 2 months to study ECR that will take me into April/May and leave me only a month to revise both sections...
I work hours of about 8.30am to 7pm ish so I can do a couple of hours in the evening but am generally knackered!! Also I just bought a house and got engaged so I'm trying not to let study take over my weekends
So I'm considering just doing FRA in June and ECR in December....but if other people think that both are do-able in the 6 months, I'd rather not let this course drag on...
Any thoughts/experiences welcome!!!
Cheers
Lucy

Re:FRA & ECR
Hi!
I'd say you are best to do 1 at a time, I tried doing both in Dec and I just was not ready because it was all too much and I ended up failing both.
It is better to take your time with each one, make sure you learn and understand and then you're more likely to pass!
If you were able to study full time, it may be possible but as you're the same as me - working full time - I'd recommend doing 1 at a time and starting with FRA.

Hi
You could pretty much say snap for the situation I was in at your stage. Full time work, engaged planning wedding, tired in evenings.
I did FRA last June and then ECR in December. I know you can do it in 6 months but if you want a bit of free time and not to totally melt down I would take a year. There is a lot to learn and I made sure I really practiced for both. So I passed both first time. The time will fly by and you will soon have finished it (I never thought I would but I am on technician now).
I did have the health and safety bit etc to do so that slowed me down but I think its better to really learn the subject and set yourself up for technician.

Thanks a lot for the feedback - to be honest thats what I was hoping to hear.
I'm going to re-do my study plan so I've loads to time to practice practice practice!!

Re:FRA & ECR
Hi Lucy
I have just successfully commpleted the intermediate level in 6 months.
I found it very difficult to begin with untill my tutor gave me some very good tips.
You sound as if you have made up your mind, however if you do decide to do both, my advice would be not to concentrate on one subject at a time as this can throw you of track.
If for example you spend an hour studying ECR spend the same amount of time on the FRA straight after. This will help your mind to switch from one paper to the other without any confusion.
Anything is possible

Re:FRA & ECR
Hi to all
After reading all messages I would like to express that I too am finding the work load more difficult this year compared to foundation. I know a level higher does contain more work but there is something new every week and I am finding it difficult to retain. If I study for hours I can forget it the next day. Those tips from your tutor could be some help, can u pass them on, would be grateful.0
